Jersey Business uses Copilot for Microsoft 365 to spearhead its efforts to boost productivity for all Jersey businesses

Jersey Business provides free, independent, confidential advice and support to businesses in Jersey. It works with businesses at all stages of their journey, from startup to growth and exit.

Addressing the productivity challenge

Productivity is a key focus area for Jersey Business. Since 1998, productivity has declined as much as 30%. The Jersey Business team works with the Jersey government to understand the scale, causes, and impact of the challenge and supports local businesses in Jersey to improve their own productivity performance.

Jersey Business recognises that technology is an important part of the answer to the ongoing productivity challenge faced by all British businesses. It was therefore excited to explore the potential of Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365.

Paul Murphy, CEO of Jersey Business explains, “We began to discover that Microsoft Copilot would be an opportunity for us to think about how we could test and develop and take productivity forward and we were really excited about it.”

Getting started with Copilot for Microsoft 365

Jersey Business took at strategic approach to its deployment of Copilot for Microsoft 365. In preparation, it asked a series of questions: How can we prep our teams and people? What processes can Copilot assist with? And how can we implement the software?

“As we began to practice it,” says Paul Murphy, “We actually realised there are considerable time savings. As you find us today still on that journey, which remains exciting, the team are fans of how Copilot can be used in so many different ways.”

Eureka moments!

“We have some Eureka moments,” enthuses Rosie Lemprière, Marketing Manager at Jersey Business. She is using Copilot for Microsoft 365 to summarise documents, create presentations, and search Jersey Business’ thirteen years’ worth of documents.

“We have a really valuable database on Microsoft 365 and the fact that Microsoft Copilot generates answers based on our business content—that’s really useful to us, really helpful,” explains June Stead, Senior Business Advisor at Jersey Business.

June Stead has found Copilot for Microsoft 365 to be especially useful in completing standard processes. She explains, “One of the early stage uses for us using Microsoft Copilot was the new business application process. Copilot helps us in six out of the seven steps so there was a 40-minute saving there. It frees me up time to focus on the part of the job I really enjoy, which is that human interaction. I feel really encouraged to keep on exploring and using it.”

Productivity improvements to aid all Jersey businesses

Rosie Lemprière says, “By adopting this technology we are showing our commitment to being as productive as possible so the business community in Jersey can see we are leading by example.”

Paul Murphy agrees, “Copilot will help to ease the productivity challenges we see in Jersey and in the wider business community. We only see the future of businesses benefitting from Copilot over time.”
