Ingage streamlines digital marketing reporting with Azure Synapse Analytics

Headquartered in Istanbul, Türkiye, Ingage was founded by Koç Holding and WPP in 2018. Its vision is to provide one-stop-shop digital marketing services to clients. Needing to replace its manual reporting processes with a modern data warehouse and self-service BI platform, Ingage turned to Microsoft Azure for a comprehensive, scalable solution. Now, Ingage has streamlined its own internal reporting and can provide comprehensive, industry-leading data insights to clients at the touch of a button.

Ingage

Founded in 2018, Ingage is a digital media and marketing agency based in Istanbul, Türkiye. Offering strategy, planning, performance management, digital optimization, and digital asset management solutions, Ingage prides itself on its new-generation agency perspective—focusing on leveraging advanced technology and data to drive sustainable customer success.

“When I started working at Ingage, our biggest challenge was that all of our reporting was manual,” explains Selin Bızıkçı, Data Analyst at Ingage. “We had lots of varied data sources, like SAP, Facebook, Google, and others. Creating the reports required a lot of effort and was prone to error because we didn’t have a data warehouse or our own reporting solution.”

Reimagining data warehousing

After considering the options, the Ingage team turned to Azure to power the insights it needed. “New technologies always excite me,” shares Yiğit Erbaş, Advanced Analytics and BI Manager at Ingage. “When we decided to use Azure tools for our new data warehouse, our contact at Microsoft suggested Azure Synapse, which had just been released. I welcomed the suggestion. From there, we put together an architecture based on end-to-end Azure services, including Synapse Analytics, Data Lake, Data Factory, with Power BI on the front end. When we started, I couldn’t find another agency with technology like ours—but now, it’s getting onto everyone’s agenda.”

“Our finance team now saves four to five person-hours a month, plus we can now give all our brands comprehensive data results through Azure Synapse Analytics and Power BI.”

Phase one of the implementation was to streamline reporting to top management. Phase two was to better support Ingage’s brands with advanced insights and analytic tools. “Our finance team now saves four to five person-hours a month, plus we can now give all our brands comprehensive data results through Azure Synapse Analytics and Power BI,” enthuses Bızıkçı. “Accessing historical data and performing comparisons are now very straightforward. The solution also simplifies searching across multiple data sources. When a client recently requested data from 2018, we were able to give the answer rapidly, thanks to the solution we have in place. It has been a transformational change for Ingage.”

“We can say that we’ve invested in the right technology for what we want to achieve in the next five years—our data warehouse Azure Synapse Analytics is the groundwork for that.”

Looking forward, Azure is key to the company’s future plans, too. “Our base for growth is very strong,” shares Erbaş. “Thanks to Azure, we can scale up as we need, whenever we want. That’s important to us because even if our data grows rapidly, we won’t have any issues. Overall, we can say that we’ve invested in the right technology for what we want to achieve in the next five years—our data warehouse Azure Synapse Analytics is the groundwork for that. It has been a very good investment for the future.”
