Tristel builds a global business using SAP Business One on Microsoft Azure

Tristel is a manufacturer of infection-prevention and contamination-control products.

The company's lead technology is a proprietary chlorine dioxide formulation incorporated in high-performance disinfectants, used principally in hospitals on medical devices and environmental surfaces.

With its head office and manufacturing facility located in the UK, the Tristel Group sells products globally through its 14 subsidiaries and network of more than 30 international distributors.

Customer Challenges

Tristel’s strong international growth led to increasing challenges when onboarding new entities to its on-premises infrastructure, which was rapidly reaching full capacity. Coupled with the decreasing costs of cloud provisioning, it made sense to look at other options for how the company could best serve its regions from a technology perspective.

Tristel required a robust, sustainable, and scalable environment that would provide faster visibility and consolidation of global sales and financial data, and in which its global entities could drive growth.

Partner Solution

Following discussions with Codestone, it was clear that the Azure platform would provide both seamless integration with SAP Business One and a secure, global environment that would allow for scalable and flexible resourcing to meet Tristel's business demands.

With datacentres available globally, Azure gave Tristel the ability to determine where their data was stored. It opted to create two hubs, one in Azure UK West and one in Azure Southeast Asia, enabling Tristel to service its subsidiaries on a regional basis.

Customer Benefits

Tristel has already realised the benefits of Azure’s scalability, quickly adding servers to the European region to meet onboarding demand, whilst making considerable cost savings by dynamically lowering the server capacity outside of working hours.

Security and networking have also improved, providing increased stability and 99.9 percent guaranteed uptime.

“Our on-premise servers were no longer fit for purpose. We’d onboarded five subsidiaries in five years and, with four more imminently on the way, we were fast running out of server capacity. In addition, the challenge of consolidating global data was growing ever more complex and time-consuming.”
