Avromed unifies data sources with Microsoft 365 and Azure

Since its launch in 2002, Avromed has established partnerships with more than 200 companies from 40 countries across the globe. The company imports pharmaceutical products essential to Azerbaijani patients, health professionals, and medical institutions.
Avromed wanted to become an efficient, data-centric organization, but the lack of digitalization and modern office tools slowed down its workflow. Employees at the company used to spend a lot of time manually collecting financial and operational data from its 12 servers across the organization. With no reporting tool, it would take three to four days to prepare a report and the team couldn’t always avoid making mistakes. Hence, the pharma importer needed a unified source of information and automated work processes to increase its efficiency.  

Transforming into a data-centric organization

To meet its goals, Avromed created a new data warehouse with Microsoft Azure. “Building our data warehouse to Azure gave us a flexible infrastructure. It has the most suitable tools for analytics—it’s easy to use, scalable, and secure,” says Majid Ismailov, Head of Data Management at Avromed.
The company's technology partner Novum prepared an implementation plan based on Avromed’s needs. “We held interviews with every department because we wanted to really understand their requirements for the new solution,” says Ayaz Afandi, Managing Partner at Novum. “After deploying the cloud solution, we conducted nationwide training sessions for Microsoft 365 and Power BI to equip users with the knowledge they needed for both basic and advanced functions.”
Having migrated to Azure, Avromed can now effectively manage its data. Employees easily blend data from multiple sources with Azure Data Factory and put reports straight onto the Azure SQL Database. Data pipelines have become easily traceable, and information can be analyzed from a single location. With the unified data source, Avromed has saved time by doing away with manually consolidating information from multiple sources.

Now, several departments—such as finance, audit, accounting, and logistics —use Power BI to provide sensitive data to relevant departments securely. “Managers don’t need to wait to receive reports from each branch individually, as they have direct access to live reports instead, and manual work has been eliminated. Real-time reporting also allows our logistics team to make quick decisions based on stock movement between branches and coordinate its fleet of more than 200 vehicles,” says Ismailov.
 The new reporting solution was also quickly and easily adopted, as it didn't require deep technical expertise to use. Employees who are comfortable working with data can easily build enhanced Power BI reports. Using Azure Analytics Services, financial and operational reports are now delivered much faster—time is saved with automated workflows. “We can now react to any requests for analytics or reports in a very short time,” says Ismailov.

Cloud solutions for a more flexible workstyle

Aside from enhancing data management, Avromed also created a remote-work environment to ensure business continuity. The company implemented Microsoft solutions such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Outlook, transforming itself into a digitally active organization.
The team stores its documents online and shares files among colleagues, allowing them to collaborate and work remotely with ease. “We can also allocate tasks, manage deadlines, and automate processes without any need of coding,” shares Ismailov. The result is greater efficiency across the organization, even when employees work off-site and on-the-go.
Looking to the future, Avromed plans for more technology migrations. "We want to shift to the new centralized ERP of Microsoft Dynamics 365—we believe it will create sustainable financial reporting and key performance indicators for the entire organization,” concludes Ismailov.
