Global professional services company Accenture helps its clients embrace change to create 360-degree value and success. To help deliver on its mission, Accenture’s 721,000 people have been using Microsoft Teams for several years. With Teams, Accenture provided a new generation of technology for calling, meeting, chat, and collaboration—all supporting collaboration with Accenture’s clients, partners, and vendors.
Accenture prioritizes taking advantage of the latest technologies not only to improve internal productivity but also to gain expertise that it can deliver to clients. Therefore, it’s not surprising that when Microsoft Loop components in Teams were released in March 2022, the feature was quickly adopted at Accenture. Using Loop components in Teams, employees can ideate, create, and make decisions together. In a Teams chat, they simply choose a component, such as a list or table, and everyone in the chat can edit the component and see changes as they’re made.
“Any increase in productivity helps us better serve our clients. Everybody at Accenture is busy, and Loop helps us capture information quickly and easily.”

Making good processes even better
Loop solved a problem that Joshua Adney, Senior Manager – Global IT, Technology Platforms at Accenture, didn’t even know he had. He was perfectly happy collaborating on checklists for projects using SharePoint and Excel, but he and his team recently embraced Loop. “I didn’t realize we could collaborate better until we began using Loop,” says Adney. “The advantage of Loop is that the content is right in the Teams chat, so you don’t have to go to a different file and keep track of links to documents.”
Adney and his team use Loop to create meeting agendas, take meeting notes, and even create deployment plans for small projects. “All of those things are possible and more efficient with Loop, rather than having to go to a SharePoint site or find a URL in an email,” says Adney. ”With Loop, I can co-create a list or table during a meeting in real time, so the plans are solidified by the end of the call. I don’t even have to send out meeting notes, because everything we worked on is all right there in Teams.”

Getting the most out of meetings
Moving real-time collaboration directly into the meeting environment is the goal of Karen Odegaard, Managing Director – Global IT, Technology Platforms at Accenture. Odegaard spends most of her days in meetings and takes advantage of Loop to capture the information that comes out of those meetings. “I love using Loop to capture action items or decisions that are made during meetings,” says Odegaard. “It encourages collaboration on these items right in the context of the meeting rather than creating a document and sharing it afterward.”

Creating meeting agendas to maximize productivity
For Accenture development teams, time allocated to leadership review meetings is a valuable commodity. Maintaining the meeting agendas for these large weekly meetings can be an onerous job. “Leadership time is so precious that in a one-hour meeting, we’ll probably pack in two hours of agenda items to ensure maximum value for the participants’ time,” explains Vinoo Dinakar, Senior Manager – Technology, Control Services at Accenture.
Dinakar uses Loop with his globally dispersed team to maintain these meeting agendas with input from 10 to 15 people for any given review. The team now saves time reviewing and prioritizing agenda items with a real-time table that anyone can edit and comment on. “With Loop, the meeting agenda is clear so that everyone can prepare and use their time effectively,” says Dinakar. “And the leadership teams know in advance which topics will be presented and what decisions need to be made.”
